We’ve been building spas here in Pakenham Victoria for 20 years now and our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and also our product just keeps going from strength to strength. We are constantly looking to improve our product. We look for improvements that we can make, whether it’s in pump performance, seat configuration, jet massage or product longevity; it’s all about providing our customers with the best long term value.
It’s very important to Sapphire Spas to work with our local supply chain. We like to know that, wherever possible, we’re spending our money in Australia. Much like a surfboard shaper transfers the love and knowledge of how he wants the final product to perform, we hand make the moulds which create the strong foundation from which all our spa pools and swim spas are built.
The base moulds for each of our spa models are constructed with form ply, MDF, shaping filler and fiberglass for structural support. The shaping for the seats, steps and jet recesses are included after the mould has been made so everything fits and conforms to the shape and interior of the spa. The vinyl ester resin our technicians use can withstand the extreme heat of the vacuum forming oven and retain the shape, form and integrity of each spa pool and swim spa.
After many weeks, the complete mould is braced with steel and the structure is supported with form ply stop eliminate movement and imperfections in the final spa pool surface we delivery to you.

Here at Sapphire Spas, all of our spa and swim spa interior surfaces are created onsite at our Victorian plant so we can control the quality of the finish on the interior surface of your spa. We begin with our acrylic sheet, which has been sourced from Aristech Surfaces. This American company has been producing world-class surface and design materials for over 50 years, to provide quality high-end aesthetic solutions for spa designers and fabricators for over 50 years.
With care to protect the integrity of the interior surface you will take home with you, we form all of our spa shapes in our purpose built vacuum forming machinery. The forming of each individual spa and swim spa shell is watched over by our highly qualified team who have been running this department for the last 20 years in Australia.
The flat acrylic sheet is secured to our spa forming mould with clamps around the perimeter of the sheet to allow us to evenly support across the expanse of the acrylic and form the spa with a consistent thickness and colour cast on the end-product interior coating. The acrylic sheet is then smoothly rolled in to sit under our purpose built heater elements which ensure an even temperature across the acrylic for our smaller spas and also across the 6.0 metre expanse of our larger pools.
After an initial heat up period, we raise the temperature of the sheet to around 200 degrees celcius, supported by a gas torch to reach the final temperature evenly across the expanse of the acrylic. Once the sheet reaches top temperature, it’s very pliable so it’s ready top be lifted over the top of the vacuum forming mould, where we engage the air suction of the forming equipment to shape the sheet into the seating arrangement of the spa or swim spa we're creating.
The reverse moulding technique is unique to Sapphire Spas; we use a specifically made ram to help press the sheet evenly into the undercut mouldings within the footwell of spas like myPartner.
Taking care to create the perfect interior surface for your spa enjoyment, each spa shell we form will remain under suction while the sheet is allowed to cool down to about 80 degrees. We take care to allow the spa shell to cool to about 60-65 degrees before continuing this interior surface preparation process, so the sheet is warm enough to pull out of the mould without cracking but cool enough so that it shouldn’t bend to much.
This creation process allows us to deliver the smoothest and most comfortable interior spa surface on the market today; you have peace of mind that the interior surface of your spa has been inspected and cared for individually by our qualified technician.
At Sapphire Spas we only use the best available materials. A great example is our fiberglass resins, supplied to us by Scott Bader, one of the worlds largest resin manufacturers. We use a vinyl-ester base coat to ensure unbeatable bond strength with the vacuum formed acrylic sheet. This is then reinforced with a high-strength general purpose fibreglass to provide the structural integrity that is required to give a lifetime of support to the spa shell.
In the manufacturing process we do not cut any corners or use any additives that not only cut cost but reduce the quality of the overall product. Many spa & pool manufacturers use filling or bulking compounds mixed into their resins to reduce the cost and make the expensive resins go further. This exercise is detrimental to product quality as the powders used hide air bubbles and errors in the fiberglassing process, leading to long term issues such as bubbling or delamination between the acrylic sheet and the fiberglass structure.

Added strength is achieved through the mix of premium quality fiberglass roving thread with resin during application.
We use a vinyl-ester base coat to ensure unbeatable bond strength with the vacuum formed acrylic sheet. Care is taken to begin with a clean surface to ensure the best adhesion and protection against delamination.
Our fiberglass application team apply multiple coats to the footwell and base of the seats to ensure structural integrity.
We overlap each pass of fiberglass by at least half the width of the last spray pass to ensure all areas of the acrylic shell are fully coated and protected.
Where the spa shell moulds around neck jets, head rests and into the lip of the spa, we pay extra attention and even roll to press in for added adherance.
Detailed sections are 'wet down' with an additional spray of resin only to force the fiberglass deeper into these areas for added protection.

Pipework configuration needs to be precision engineered to allow free-flow water circulation.

The pride our team take in plumbing your spa, ensure better seals and significantly reduced potential for leaks. Once all the jets have been installed, the pumps are positioned within the cabinet and securely connected to the plumbing flow. The spa is then moved on to our water testing station where it is checked thoroughly so there's no leaks or problems.

Blowers are connected to the air jets installed in the base of seating areas and provide air massage to soft tissue areas
First they get all the raw materials and cut them to length. Then lay them down until they make the sides of the cabinets. The corners are made using a corner jig. Once finished they use a boomerang, glue it on then nail it all together. They then stain the cabinets using a water based stain and hang them up to dry for an hour to hour and a half. We then glue and screw them to together in the basing area. After that we grab the sides and corner panels, lock them all in and then screw them. Add the base for extra structure support and then add insulation. The cabinets are then fitted onto the shells.

In the water test department we fill the spas up with recycled water and check every part to make sure theres no leaks underneath, the jets are airating, touch pads and lights are all working. If its all good then it gets based and pushed through to where it gets detailed.
We clean them, give them a detail and make sure they look really good. We then wrap them and send them to the customer to enjoy.

What is the Smart Variable Heater?
SpaNET is the first spa control manufacturer to offer a dedicated interface for seamless integration of a heat pump to a spa pool. The SV Series interface provides automatic heat pump detection and disabling of electric element and offers plug-n-play direct cable connection with no need for additional power circuits.
SV Series spa controls feature a dynamic thermostat point which adapts and tunes heat cycles to match the thermal properties of your spa. Current Limit and Load Limit functions will govern the power the spa consumes to keep within certain limits if the available power at the property the spa is being installed is restricted. 'How hard is it to keep spa water clean?' This is one of the most common questions asked by our customers so we place high importance on providing easy water maintenance for crystal clear spa water.
Spa pools, due to their small body of water and hard cover protection, are much easier to maintain than a swimming pool. They don’t require many chemical additives and there's no need to spend hours brushing and vacuuming. Nevertheless, the small body of water, combined with the fact it is kept warm, means making sure the water is adequately treated is critical. Our Purewater 'CD OZONE' water care system is the most efficient ozone system available. This 'CD' corona discharge system will neutralise contaminants in your spa water so that they can be removed by the filter system.
Clearzone uses the efficiency of ozone in combination with the strength of UV-C light. The combination of these two technologies creates an oxidising agent many, many times more powerful than ozone on its own. This results in much more effective destruction of nasties in the water and also greatly reduces the chlorine by-products that cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation.

Clearzone features AOP (Advance Oxidation Process) technology to help deliver incredibly crystal clear spa water with minimal chemical odours or associated eye, skin and respiratory irritation.
Clearzone helps clarify your spa water by generating a powerful oxidiser that burns up dissolved solids in the water so the filter can catch them, it then quickly converts back to oxygen leaving no chemical residual or off gassing odours. This is further enhanced by Ozone AND UV-C sterilisation to kill 99.95% of all bacteria and virus material that pass through the clearzone Unit. Sapphire Spas 'Purewater CD Ozone' system has been developed to combine the most efficient ozone sanitisation methods available today to remove contaminants from your spa water and reduce chemical usage for healthy, clean and clear spa water.
Ozone is the preferred spa sanitisation method and better than chlorine alone, however not all ozone systems are created equal. Ozone automatic sanitiser systems have been around in spas for many years but read below tomake sure you're buying the best.

The SV Series Smart Filtration delivers the lowest possible daily filtration cost by recognising the spa is filtering whilst heating and automatically adjusting filtration cycles to account for runtime spent during heating. Other spa controls run fixed amounts of filtration not considering pump runtime during heating resulting in higher energy consumption for no benefit
The One Touch Sanitise button activates a 20-minute water clean cycle that immediately engages the ozone/UV sanitiser module and filtration pump and also sequentially operates all jet pumps and the blower to purge plumbing lines and refresh water quality after spa use. Upon exiting the spa, a simple button press activates the cycle, refreshing the water when it is needed the most.
